Is Google Killing Good SEO Content Writing and Marketing?
I know it’s a strange title on a website of an SEO Content Writing Firm, but that really is a question that’s being asked in some circles.
I wrote a post about Google SERPs being dominated by certain sites. As I did more research I realized there was one common factor: the multiple results are usually dynamically generated search results that are indexed by Google.
For instance, look at the page 2 results for the keyword “house swapping australia”
5 out of the 10 results on the page are internal search pages from the same website.
Despite all the comments about looking into the issue, Google doesn’t seem to be doing anything. The search results are as bad as ever, in fact on some days they only get worse.
So, it is but a natural question to ask, is it even worth it to create good quality pages that offer great user experience in terms of relevant SEO content?
Knowing how unpredictable Google has become, and how anti-small business most of its algo updates look like, it’s time to diversify.
SEO Content Writing Strategies To Survive Despite Google
In this scenario, here are the top SEO Content writing tips and Internet Marketing strategies I would recommend:
1) Target several related long tail keywords. For example, if your niche area is ‘accounting services’, it’s a good idea to target long tail keywords that incorporate several popular (medium-low competition) keywords in the niche.
Keeping this in mind, one of your keywords could be ‘outsourcing accounting services’ thus combining keywords like: ‘outsourcing accounting’, ‘accounting services’ and ‘outsourcing accounting’.
2) If your business is getting hammered because of domain overcrowding for a certain keyword, don’t waste time fretting over it, or waiting for Google to fix things. Focus on other long tail keywords where one domain is not dominating the search results.
3) Don’t place all your eggs in Google’s basket. Bing’s market share has been rising consistently, though one cannot expect it to become the new Google anytime soon, it’s worthwhile to invest some time and money on Bing.
In fact, you must consider investing a part of your overall PPC budget in Bing PPC as well. After all, having Google dictate terms for your business can get rather frustrating, so it’s a good idea to have multiple sources of traffic.
4) Invest in social media marketing; social networks can get you a lot of referral traffic.
5) Spend time on identifying good Guest Blogging opportunities. Your posts on high value niche blogging sites can send targeted traffic your way and of course get you some powerful backlinks.
6) Update content on your site regularly and keep your targeted keywords in mind while you are at it. Google still gives a lot of importance to freshness.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of Google, but one has to admit that they control 2/3rds of the organic search results. So, even if the Search Engine Daddy appears to be cold towards small businesses, we have to learn to adapt and change tactics to generate business despite Google!
