Content Marketing Rules To Follow Before You Accept A Guest Post
Guest Blogging has become an excellent content marketing tool, what with more and more people making use of it to promote their blogs, brands, websites and a lot more. However, what many people are not aware of is the fact that search engines have now started becoming very strict with blogs that accept guest posts.
The primary reason perhaps is the fact that authors of guest posts often submit low-quality content, which creates a flow of poor information over the Internet.
Ideally, if you are letting someone submit guest posts for your blog, these are the rules that you should follow before accepting them.
Check Author’s Credibility
This is important to ensure that the author is sending genuine content, and is not doing this to spread spam links. So, research on the author and check his/ her track record to see that that he/she has been submitting good quality content of at least 1000 words or more.
Delete Useless Links
If the content given by the author has links, which are useful to the reader in some way or the other, then you should keep them. However, if you notice that the links are not even related to the post in anyway, then feel free to remove them.
Accept Only If It’s Unique
There has to be something different or unique in that guest post for people to come and read it. If it is one of those same pieces of information, which are spread all over the Internet, then there is no way, you’ll be able to attract more readers.
So, be picky, set very high standards, and choose very unique and informative posts. Don’t compromise on the quality of the content at any cost.
Seek Ownership Of The Content
The author’s right on the content should only be limited to being a contributor and getting a credit for writing it. Beyond that, you need to own that content, to ensure that no replications or duplications are done on other blogs or other forums on the Internet.
Don’t Entertain Requests For Individual Accounts
At the end of the day, it is your blog, so you would obviously want to monitor everything on it very closely. Giving accounts to authors would kill the purpose, because they might want to publish anything and everything they feel like, irrespective of the quality and the links. So, their role has to be limited to only being a contributor.
It’s ideally good to connect with those authors who are willing to help your blog grow with good information. They should also be able to interact well on the blog by means of comments, shares etc., so that everyone gets to be in a win-win situation.
