Is the Death Of SEO Services Near?–Part 1

It’s a question that’s raised every time Google launches a update. The encrypted search for logged in users on Chrome added a lot of fuel to SEO debates in 2011, now with Firefox set to offer the default https Google search to its users, panicked voices are asking the question in newbie SEO circles again.

Personally, I think death of SEO questions are simply knee-jerk reactions. Marketing has always co-existed with paid advertising. Google may be doing all it can to make its paid advertising options look more lucrative, but that doesn’t mean SEO or organic search engine marketing is counting its last days.

Google has always made changes, the SEO industry has always adapted. The question now is, what does this change mean and how do we adapt to it?

In simple terms, browsers offering encrypted Google search by default means, webmasters will not know what search query did the user enter to reach a particular page. The only exception to this will be paid links on Google. So, if you are on board the PPC ship, you’ll still get to know how a user found your paid link. When Firefox implements its https by default feature, the keyword data that we have access to through analytic tools is going to shrink further.

So, how do you choose your keywords?

I’ll address the question in the next post.
