Ranking well for your targeted keyword, but getting minimal conversions?SEO Content Writing For Profits

Pumping in money, but your site’s still no where around the top 20 on Google?

The problem probably lies in your keyword selection!

Understanding The Art Of Keyword Selection

The SEO content writing tip is putting yourself in your prospects’ shoes.  Make a list of all the phrases and keywords you think they would use while searching for a product or service that you sell.

One thing that you must remember is that most people do not use single words as their keyword queries.

Look at this way; if you wanted to shop online for women’s shoes, you wouldn’t just enter ‘shoes’ as your query, right? You’d probably enter a long tail keyword like, ‘women’s shoes online’ or ‘women’s shoes online store’, etc.

Top Tips For Keyword Selection

Once your list of potential long tail keywords is ready, here’s what you should do:

1) Open the Google Adwords tool website, it’s an excellent free tool for keyword selection.

2) Choose the ‘Exact Match’ type so that you get a clear picture about how many people are searching for the particular keyword.

3) Don’t use high competition keywords, you must look for such keywords, which will get much less search traffic – but sufficient to make it worthwhile. You must generate some traffic but a keyword that large number of sites already rank for, will not solve the purpose.

4) Look for keywords that are likely to get you good conversions. For instance, let’s say you sell musical instruments online, now one of the most popular keyword in your niche is likely to be ‘musical instruments’.

However, not everyone entering a search query for ‘musical instruments’ would be looking to buy music equipment. Therefore, from a sales point of view, it would make more sense to select a long tail keyword like, ‘musical instruments for sale’ to secure better conversions.

The tips should help you come up with a list of keywords that will generate a good ROI.

Whenever you use keywords, you make it easier for people to find you. When people are able to find you, you will have more potential customers.
